Purple & Aqua

These colors look stellar together. Nothing original, I'm sure, but still very pretty.

Also a very simple look. I used Polyester Bride (shimmery white) in the inner corners and as a highlight); a bright aqua in the middle of my lid (from Coastal Scents palette); and a purple in the outer corner and blended into the crease and as a lower liner (also from Coastal Scents palette). Added a black liquid eyeliner to the upper lashline, applied mascara and tada!

Plorange!

I bought a purple shirt and an orange shirt from Old Navy last week, intending on wearing them alone. Then I tried them on (at home) and realized they were waaaaaaay low cut. Cue layering! So I bought some cute tanks from Walmart to wear underthem. A purple for under the orange, an orange for under the purple. :P Two days in a row I wore purple and orange together. They just...mesh so well!

So here I am sporting purple and orange eyeshadow to match. Hence the title: Plorange. ;)

I'm getting lazy with adding colors because I've been using my Coastal Scents palette so darned much. I used two of the orange colors from the palette, my eyeshadow staple Polyester Bride by Urban Decay (any shimmery white will do), two of the purples from the palette, and a black liquid eyeliner. Really quite simple.

Sour Grapes

Oh my... springtime has sprung to life here in Alabama! The trees are covered in tiny bright green leaves (or snow white flowers; or sometimes bright fuschia and purple). The grass is starting to awake from its winter sleep. The sun is shining on a regular basis. I've officially retired my winter wardrobe and replaced it with happier, brighter colors. My sister and I took a trip to Old Navy this week and I couldn't stop marvelling at all the lively colors! I wanted to buy something in every shade! (Of course, I refrained.)

Today, to celebrate springtime, I decided to wear a purple shirt with a bright green tanktop underneath. My eyes to match, of course.

I won't be listing exact colors used because I did some layering and kind of lost track of what I put on in what order and gaah! Basically if you have a nice lime green and a nice purple eyeshadow, a shimmery white for a highlight, some black eyeliner for your top lashline and some purple eyeliner for your waterline: you're set.

Tune in tomorrow for an orange and aqua look OR an orange and purple look... I haven't decided. :D

Clarisonic Results -- Week 3

Unfortunately I did not take a "before" picture prior to starting the Clarisonic. However, I will say that I have noticed fantastic results! I've been using it twice daily for three weeks and my pores are significantly less noticeable. I have had a few breakouts, though, but I will attribute that to changing my regimen and also not drinking enough water. Plus, I stopped using my topical acne medications -- BAD idea. So instead of using the Bioré cleanser that I bought specifically for the Clarisonic, I went back to using Neutrogena Oil Free Acne Wash (with 2% Salicylic acid). The results are wonderous! I don't know how I've lived my life without one of these puppies! I used Queen Helene's Mint Julep Mask the other night after the Clarisonic and WOW. I would've actually left the house without putting on foundation. My skin looked that good.

Still, I am very oily so I still wear makeup. I switched from Bare Minerals to Everyday Minerals and I think that has also helped my pores to diminish in size. Their Sunlight Start-to-Finish Kaolin powder is excellent at controlling oily AND making my pores appear smaller. BONUS!

So here's a picture of my face -- sans makeup -- to use for comparison purposes down the line. Please excuse the EXTREME closeup-ed-ness. :P

Oh, also, I have noted that my acne marks have faded quite quickly (and almost completely) since I've started using the Clarisonic. TWO THUMBS UP!

Oh! Me Lucky Charms!

So just a few more days of wearing green and then I'll probably retire my green wardrobe for at least a few weeks. I'll admit -- as much as I love green, I'm a little burnt out on it. [gasp!] Still, for the most part I've been wearing nothing but green since March 1st (actually a little bit before).

Yesterday my sister and I took a trip out to Ulta and I wound up purchasing Too Faced Shadow Insurance Policy Palette. It came with six very vibrant and pretty colors but mostly I bought it because it turned out to be cheaper than buying two Urban Decay Singles (Hot Pants and Vert) and Boy Toy (pink) and Lucky Charm (green) from the palette were very close to the two Urban Decay colors. Plus I got a full size tube of Too Faced Shadow Insurance. BONUS!

So here is what I used today:

  • Urban Decay Primer Potion: All over lid and brow bone area.

  • Urban Decay Polyester Bride (shimmery white with microglitter): inner corner of lid and lower lashline; brow bone highlight.

  • L'Oreal HiP Shadow Duo in Riotious: light green shade on middle of lid and lower lashline; dark green shade as a liner for upper lashline.

  • Too Faced Lucky Charms (deep jade green): outer corner and blended into crease.

  • Rimmel London Sexy Curves Mascara in Extreme Black.

  • Urban Decay Brow Box in Brown Sugar.

  • Everyday Minerals Everyday Bronzer on cheeks.

  • L'Oreal HiP Presso Lip Color in Snazzy.
